Father's Day June 2007:
My Daddy! A true father in every sense of the word. Absolutely Thoughtful, Generously Giving, High Spirited, Awesomely Humorous (will leave you crying from laughing so hard) and a true Christian with the love of God in his heart. Beloved husband to his wife for 59 years and loosing her suddenly 11 years ago. A loving father to 6 of his own natural born children and adopted 2 more very special young men from his Boy-Scout Troop who lost their parent's suddenly and took them in until they went off to college. He raised his grand-daughter after loosing one of his own precious daughter to cancer of whom he had literately breathed the life back into her twice during the 5 years time that the Good Lord had Blessed her with after finding out she had Hodgkin's Disease. He was a Boy-Scout Leader & Counselor for 40& year's, every summer he had like mega leave time and always took us to slamming summer vacation's. He would work his body to exhaustion to support his quite large family and never had to depend on the system to help him provide for them(not even free lunches for us kids at school) and provided a modest life style for us. He retired from the Pepco Power Company after 48 years of dedicated service running the steam engine's up & down the coal mines of Va. He has had mega health issue's over the years due to working those coal mines, a bad back from shoveling coal all those years and he had a bleeding ulcer so had to have half his stomach cut away to repair the damage. He also is a 12 year Prostate Cancer Survivor, has survived 2 by-pass surgery's & has blocked corotic arteries on both side's of his neck now. He just had a colonoscopy done that revealed colan cancer & last week the doc's discovered a heart murmur that they want to do farther testing on and he wont go. No more test, no more treatment's other than the medication he's currently on. He is starting to have memory laps on top of everything else. My father has always been the strongest man I know in heart, mind and spirit and would never give up on anything but now he is weary & tired and misses my mother so greatly. He has done his job well that the Good Lord put him on this earth to do and he is ready to return home to Christ and to his beloved. My father is in Florida and my oldest sister goes for months at a time to care for him. We know the time is coming close for him as he is preparing for his eternal life. We will be bring him home to us soon to give him the rest of his day's with his family as it should be. Please keep my daddy & family in your prayer's as we are also preparing to go through yet another a very trying trail in our lives's. May God Bless You & watch over you Poppa until you are home with us once again. We Love you! June 2007
Father's Day 2008:
UPDATE: We've been BLESSED with another year with Poppa. He's holding his own ... still living in Flordia as he is so totally stubborn and indepedant and doesn't want to be a burden to his family but as long as the Good Lord Blesses him with enough strength to hold his own ... we accept his decision's with a smile. Happy Father's Day Poppa ... may God Bless your day's with love & happiness. We love you..... June 2008 ....
